WFC Runners - 6th December - Teg Down Hills

This week saw 18 Fit Clubbers join me at Dean Lane Park.  It had been a wet and blustery day, however by the evening the rain had stoped and the wind had dropped which made it fairly pleasant conditions for running.

After a warm-up we headed off for a short jog to the first part of the session.  We headed onto Teg Down and over to Old Hillside Road.

Old Hillside Road is a private road that has a lovely hill on it.  It is a 100m or so run from bottom to top at an average gradient of about 10%, so a nice way to start the session.  Here we did 4 reps of teh hill with jog recovery in between.

After the final rep we headed up the hill, through to Hillside Road and all the way up to Ten Down Meads.  We then turned down and headed to the corner of Coppice Close.  That was to be the base for the next set up reps.

The next set was slightly longer and steeper up the Teg Down Meads hill.  Running from Coppice close we ran up to the junction with Hillside Road and then jog recovered back down.  Again we repeated this 4 times.

Next we started at the same position but went longer up the hill, this time all the way to the junction with Webster Road, with jog recovery back down.  This was repeated twice.

We collected all our kit and did one final rep up to Hillside Rd before jogging back the way we came.

Back at the park we cooled down and stretched before heading off into the night.

The session was around 3 miles and over 500ft of elevation!!

Thank you to everyone who came out and for making it such a fun and friendly session!!

I neglected to take any pictures tonight so here's some of Alex and I!!

A reminder that next week will be the Tinsel Trot; a 5km social run around Winchester in aid of Anne and Rachel's London Marathon Charities.  There will be cake afterwards!

We are then taking a well earned Christmas break on the 20th and 27th December, returning in January.
